Original Drawing On Paper Using Graphite, Charcoal and Ink.

In the shadows of a Hong Kong brothel, Luli's nights are filled with profound sorrow that stains the very air she breathes. The brothel's flickering lights cast distorted shadows on her chiseled features, each contour tells a story of survival etched in bruised hues. Behind a curtain of feigned smiles, she maneuvers through a maze of anonymous encounters, where desire is the currency.

The city outside, an indifferent metropolis of excess, mirrors the emptiness behind her eyes. A character in her own gritty narrative she endures the relentless grind of flesh and fantasy, a pawn in the unspoken game of vice that thrives in the obscure corners of urban decay. In the quietude between encounters, she confronts her own silent despair, a prisoner to the sadness that lingers in the spaces where true intimacy has faded.

The city's pulse resonates through the walls, mocking the dull beats of her shattered heart. Each beat is a note in the symphony of escapism, a relentless rhythm masking the cacophony of thoughts echoing in her mind.

Survival has become a dance choreographed to the whims of strangers. The men who seek comfort in the dark corners of her world are mere actors, their faces interchangeable masks that conceal the hollowness that mirrors her own. In between clients, she allows herself the luxury of introspection, tracing the lines on her palm as if searching for answers etched in the creases of her skin.

Her encounters are transactions, not connections. Each touch leaves a residue of emptiness, a reminder that intimacy has become a phantom that haunts the recesses of her numb soul. Her clients are looking for a moment of forgetfulness. Yet, she can't forget; she is a prisoner to memories that cling like shadows to the walls.

Luli knows she is a footnote in the margins of a story written in the ink of vice and despair. The flickering lights,  the cold sweat that glistens on her skin, the faceless men are all part of a script she never consented to, a narrative where she is both protagonist and casualty.
